Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine is joining over 85 of the world’s most recognized academic medical centers and health systems as a new member and the first institution in Asia of the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health. For integrative medicine professionals and students, the Academic Consortium is the world’s most comprehensive community for advancing the practice of whole health care, with leading expertise in research, clinical care, education, and policy.
“The mission of the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine & Health is to transform the healthcare system by promoting integrative medicine and health for all” said Academic Consortium Board Chair, Sian Cotton, PhD. She added, “Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine has championed this work for over 35 years, and their expertise in the field will be integral in advancing our vision of whole health for every person.”
Founded by Dr. Joon Shik Shin in 1988, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine is the preeminent network of Korean Medicine hospitals in South Korea, with over 21 hospitals and clinics across the country. Their expansive network is bolstered by more than 1,500 inpatient beds and is propelled by the dedication of over 1,000 skilled physicians and nursing staff—a reflection of Jaseng’s commitment to healthcare excellence and the deep trust it has garnered among patients over the years.
At the heart of Jaseng Hospital’s practice is a pioneering approach to the non-surgical treatment of spine and joint disorders—championed by the establishment of Jaseng Spine and Joint Research Institute, a dedicated research center within Jaseng Hospital. Embracing an integrative methodology, Jaseng Hospital merges the wisdom of traditional Korean Medicine with treatment methodologies of Western medicine. In 2023 alone, Jaseng Hospital served over 310,000 individuals, who all benefitted from Jaseng’s holistic and patient-centered care. Jaseng Hospital further embodies a profound commitment to community service and social responsibility with the Jaseng Medical Foundation’s philanthropic endeavors, including volunteer work, charity events, medical aid, and the provision of scholarships.
