CME Credits

Spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) is defined as a treatment where practitioners use their hands or devices to apply a controlled thrust (ie, force of specific magnitude in a specific direction) to spinal joints. Various healthcare professions use SMT, and the previous literature regarding the effects of SMT is somewhat controversial. This CME/CE session reviews 2 recent systematic reviews on the benefits and harms of SMT for low back pain for best practice, and introduces Chuna Manual Therapy and a recent RCT on its effects for neck pain.
At the end of this activity, learners would be able to

* To learn which profession utilizes spinal manipulation therapy and understand prevalence and usage in Korea.
* To review the efficacy of SMT for acute and chronic pain, compare the results and safety profiles with other treatment modalities.
* To learn about Chuna, spinal manipulation treatment used in Korea, and review the clinical guidelines.
