Jaseng's Seminars in Indiana and Virginia Highlight the Global Future of Korea Medicine

Through recent seminars at Indiana University and Virginia University of Integrative Medicine, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine shared its integrative spine and joint care methods, building bridges for future global collaboration in clinical education

Introduction

In September 2025, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine, South Korea's leading institution for integrative and non-surgical spine care, hosted a series of in-person seminars at Indiana University, School of Medicine and Virginia University of Integrative Medicine (VUIM). These programs brought together physicians, acupuncturists, researchers, and students for an in-depth exploration of Jaseng's integrative clinical methods, with a special focus on Motion Style Acupuncture Treatment (MSAT).

Seminar at Indiana University (Sept 25, 2025)

At Indiana University, twenty physicians, acupuncturists, and researchers joined Jaseng's medical team for a three-hour continuing education seminar designed to introduce the core of Korean Medicine and Jaseng's integrative clinical practices. Team Lead Andrew Jang from Jaseng Medical Academy, opened the session with an overview of Jaseng Hospital and setting the stage for an introduction to Korean Medicine and a comparison with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)—highlighting shared roots as well as distinct clinical approaches.

Dr. Young Suk Yoon delivered the main lecture and walked through real patient case examples, helping participants connect theory to practice in musculoskeletal care. The program concluded with a lively Q&A moderated by the team, where attendees explored clinical decision-making and implementation in depth.

For many, this was a first look at Korean Medicine in an academic clinical context. Participants remained highly engaged throughout—especially around the evidence base behind Jaseng's methods and our integrative approaches to treating musculoskeletal problems. As one summary impression put it, "it was inspiring to learn how Korean Medicine is integrated into real clinical practice."

Seminars at Virginia University of Integrative Medicine (VUIM) (Sept 26-27, 2025)

Day 1 - Student-Focused Session
On the first day, forty students gathered to learn about Jaseng's integrative approaches to non-surgical spine and joint care. Team Lead Andrew Jang opened the program with an overview of Jaseng Hospital and introduction to Korean Medicine, including its similarities and differences from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

This was followed by Dr. Na Kyoung Lee, who introduced Jaseng's resident training system and shared insights on pharmacopuncture and the basic concepts behind Jaseng's integrative treatment methods, including Motion Style Acupuncture Treatment (MSAT). Building on this foundation, Dr. Young Suk Yoon presented real patient case examples and guided participants through clinical discussions. The day concluded with a focused learning session on MSAT, giving students a deeper appreciation for how theory translates into real practice.

The students demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm, engaging deeply with each lecture and discussion. Even after the session concluded, many continued to ask questions and exchange ideas, reflecting their eagerness to absorb every aspect of Jaseng's integrative system. Their active participation created an atmosphere of lively academic exchange and underscored the relevance of these approaches to their ongoing studies.

Day 2 - Physicians and Practitioners Session
The second day welcomed more than twenty participants, including MDs, DOs, PTs, and licensed acupuncturists. Andrew Jang again opened the seminar with an overview of Jaseng Hospital and an introduction to Korean Medicine in comparison with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Na Kyoung Lee followed with a lecture on Jaseng's resident training system, pharmacopuncture, and the foundational principles of integrative treatments, including MSAT. Building on these framework, Dr. Young Suk Yoon presented detailed patient case studies, inviting participants into clinical discussions that linked evidence with practice.

The program closed with a focused MSAT learning segment, which was especially well received by the practitioners. Many praised the clarity of its methodology and recognized its potential to complement conventional care pathways. The audience showed strong engagement throughout. Their enthusiastic participation underscored the resonance of Jaseng's evidence-based approach with healthcare professionals across disciplines.
