Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS) refers to a condition where pain persists or recurs at the same topographical location (or in the same spinal segment) after surgical intervention. This CME/CE session mainly reviews a research paper on long-term reoperation rates following surgery, and summarizes the definition and causative factors of FBSS, main types of spinal surgery and Korean Medicine treatment for FBSS.

The main contents of this CME/CE session are based on the following paper: Kim CH, Chung CK, Choi Y, et al. The Long-term Reoperation Rate Following Surgery for Lumbar Herniated Intervertebral Disc Disease: A Nationwide Sample Cohort Study With a 10-year Follow-up. Spine. 2019;44(19):1382-1389.
At the end of this activity, learners would be able to

* To acquire knowledge on the definition, prevalence, characteristics, and diagnosis of Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS)
* To understand how to provide clinical guidance for patients with FBSS about the status and risk of spinal surgery, based on data of retrospective cohort studies
