The number of deaths from cancer in Korea is rising; Cancer accounted for the second largest cause of death in the US in 2013, and the importance of cancer treatment and management is becoming more pronounced.
Acupuncture treatment has been shown to be effective in relieving cancer-related pain, and an extensive amount of related research has been conducted. Moxibustion has also been reported to enhance immunity in patients whose immunity has greatly diminished due to anti-cancer treatment.
Research on integrative medicine treatments for cancer is actively underway in China and the US, and various traditional treatment methods are revisited and reinterpreted for inclusion in integrative medicine treatment, sometimes in the form of new medical devices. For example, in integrative medicine hospitals, thermal therapy may be provided in the form of both high-frequency thermal cancer treatment devices and moxibustion.
This lecture also includes an overview of conventional medicine treatment use within the context of integrative medicine.
* Understand the principles of cancer management in East Asian Medicine.
* Review the latest research on using acupuncture and moxibustion for cancer pain.
* Learn how the acupuncture points and the different principles of East Asian Medicine are used in actual practice.
