Michigan State University Students Visit Jaseng to Explore Korean Medicine and Healthcare
A group of students from Michigan State University visited Jaseng to explore the foundations of Korean Medicine, from herbal medicine production at the Jaseng Medi-Bio Center to clinical practice at Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine.
A Day of Discovering at Jaseng
Last week, Jaseng had the pleasure of welcoming a group of approximately 20 students and faculty from Michigan State University (MSU) for a visit to the Jaseng Medi-Bio Center and Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine in Seoul. The visit provided an opportunity for the students to gain firsthand exposure to Korean Medicine, as well as a deeper understanding of how traditional medical knowledge is integrated into Korea's modern healthcare system.
The day began with a tour of the Jaseng Medi-Bio Center, where the students were introduced to the foundations of Korean herbal medicine. During the visit, they were able to observe how herbal medicines are researched, formulated, and produced before being distributed to patients. The tour offered valuable insight into the rigorous quality control systems and scientific standards that ensure the safety, consistency, and effectiveness of herbal medicine preparations used in clinical settings.
Through this experience, the students were able to better understanding not only the historical background of Korean Medicine but also the modern infrastructure that supports its application in contemporary healthcare.
Following the visit to the Medi-bio Center, the group continued their program at Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine. At the hospital, the students were introduced to the clinical environment where Korean Medicine treatments—including acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and herbal medicine—are provided to patients.
The session also included discussions about the structure of the Korean healthcare system and how Korean Medicine is integrated within it. For many of the students, this was a unique opportunity to compare Korea's integrative healthcare model with healthcare system in the United States, which they are more familiar with. The students showed great curiosity throughout the visit, asking thoughtful questions and actively engaging with the Jaseng team.
This exchange of perspectives created a meaningful learning environment for both sides and highlighted the growing international interest in integrative approaches to healthcare.
Visits like this continue to strengthen the relationship between Jaseng and Michigan State University and contribute to the broader exchange of knowledge between institutions across countries. Jaseng looks forward to welcoming more students and faculty members from MSU in the future and continuing to foster opportunities for international collaboration and learning.
