2026 Jaseng Medical Academy Summer Internship Program

Two weeks of discovery, clinical observation, and international exchange—exploring Korean Medicine together at Jaseng Medical Academy.

Welcoming Our 2026 Summer Students

From July 6 to July 17, 2026, Jaseng Medical Academy welcomed 13 medical and pre-medical students for our Summer Internship Program. Participants joined us from institutions including the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Charles University in the Czech Republic, and Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) in the United Arab Emirates.

The program introduced students to Korean Medicine and its place in integrative healthcare through clinical observation, lectures, practical learning sessions, and facility visits, Bringing together students at different stages of their education, it offered an opportunity to explore new approaches to medicine and learn alongside international peers.

Getting Started at Jaseng

The internship began with orientation and a hospital tour, introducing participants to the program and the clinical environment where they would spend the next two weeks.

It was an opportunity to meet fellow students, become familiar with the schedule, and prepare for the learning experiences ahead—from observing outpatient care to discussing Korean Medicine with our physicians.

Exploring Korean Medicine Through Lectures and Demonstrations

Educational sessions introduced the foundations of Korean Medicine and the treatment approaches used at here Jaseng. Topics included Acupuncture, Pharmacopucnture, Chuna Manual Therapy, and Motion Style Acupuncture Treatment (MSAT), with a focus on spinal and joint conditions.

Lectures and demonstrations connected these topics with their clinical applications. Alongside learning about treatment methods, participants had opportunities to ask questions and discuss unfamiliar concepts with medical staff. 

These exchanges created space to consider how Korean Medicine relates to the approaches students encounter in their own medical education.

Clinical Shadowing: Connecting Learning with Practice

Clinical observation was a central part of the internship program, giving students a closer look at how physicians approach care in a Korean Medicine hospital.

Through shadowing session, students could connect classroom topics with the clinical setting and observe how different treatment approaches fit into everyday practice. Discussions with physicians offered further opportunities to explore the reasoning behind clinical decisions.

For students considering their future paths in healthcare, this exposure provided a new setting in which to reflect on medicine, clinical learning, and the questions they hope to explore further.

Learning Beyond the Clinical Setting

The program also took students beyond the consultation room through facility visits, including a tour of the Jaseng Research Institute and Jaseng Medi-Bio Center.

These visits added another dimension to the program, placing clinical observation within the broader context of the facilities and work supporting Korean Medicine. Together with lectures and conversations with medical staff, they helped connect different parts of the program into a more complete learning experiences.

Sharing Perspectives with JS Leaders

Joint activities with JS Leaders, a group of Korean Medicine students, created opportunities for peer learning and academic exchange. 

Through project preparation and presentations, participants worked together to revisit what they had learned and communicate their ideas. The activities provided a setting for students to compare perspectives, ask one another questions, and learn about medical education in different countries.

As part of the program, students worked in groups alongside JS Leaders to develop CME lectures, bringing dedication, teamwork, and creativity to the project. Their lectures will soon be available on our CME webpage here, sharing their work with a wider learning community.

Bringing Two Weeks of Learning Together

The program concluded with project presentations and a closing ceremony, bringing the group together to mark the completion of the internship.

We thank all our students for the time and energy they brought to the program, and our faculty, physicians, staff, and JS Leaders for supporting their learning.

We hope this experience will encourage our students to keep asking questions, explore different perspectives on healthcare, and stay connected with the peers they met at Jaseng.
